What is Italian Therabrasion?

Developed by Paphos Skincare, Italian Therabrasion is a multi-functional European skincare system that consists of multiple steps and techniques in order to fully revitalize dull or damaged skin. While some skincare treatments cannot be used for chronic skin conditions or on sensitive areas of the face, Italian Therabrasion can be effective in treating conditions such as Rosacea, Acne, and Eczema and is safe for use on the eyes, lips, and nose.

Italian Therabrasion is applied topically and consists of several steps:

Face Cleansing

Before any skin treatment, it is essential to cleanse the face of cellular debris and makeup residue. Our medical team will apply a face cleanser and makeup remover that is formulated from some of the best ingredients in nature such as coconut oil, chamomile flower, sweet almond oil and Vitamin E. This cleanser gently removes superficial contaminants from the skin while replacing oils and protecting it from exposure to daily free radicals.

Mapping Stage

Next comes a microdermabrasion process using ruby crystals. Rather than forming rough granules when shattered, rubies produce shards that act like small scalpel blades to gently shave away dead skin cells from the surface. This process can be customized for different areas of the face.

The next few steps of Italian Therabrasion are phases of microdermabrasion with the ruby crystals, applied in progressively higher concentrations to allow for a more complete, controlled and less irritating microdermabrasion experience.

Therapeutic Acid Skin Resurfacing

Considered the hallmark of the Italian Therabrasion system, this step involves Dermopeel III, which uses three acids to peel away dead cells on the outermost layer of the skin as well as treat specific skin conditions.

Azelaic acid, an active ingredient in Dermopeel III, also has anti-DNA activity that can effectively help treat Rosacea and may help the scarring that is associated with certain skin lesions. There are also several other beneficial ingredients to help hyperpigmentation and other skin concerns.

Once the skin undergoes microdermabrasion and is resurfaced, the Skin Renewing serum and Vitamin Repairing serum are applied to provide nutrition to newly-formed skin cells as well as deliver important restructuring and nutritional functions. Other naturally-derived ingredients hydrate, soothe, and provide antioxidants to the skin.

Vasoconstricting and Toning Mask

Utilizing two important ingredients, this mask absorbs impurities from the skin and shrinks pores. The liquorice extract in this part of the treatment also reduces redness after treatment, while chamomile and sweet almond oil soothe and rehydrate the skin.

Lycopene Face Cream

One of the most powerful and most studied antioxidants for skin health, lycopene is found in high concentration in tomatoes and helps protect the skin from the sun’s harmful and from environmental free radicals. Studies have shown that when antioxidants such as lycopene are applied after microdermabrasion, results are often more dramatic than with just microdermabrasion alone. The face cream used in this treatment is the only cream available with pure, organic lycopene.

For best results, multiple Italian Therabrasion treatments may be necessary. Contact Dr. Dadurian today to schedule a consultation and find out how Italian Therabrasion can improve the look and feel of your skin.
